The Almighty Steel Carport

  9 September 2014

You can never go wrong with a covered space on your property, especially when that area has been strategically designed to protect cars, boats, caravans or trailers. We're talking about the almighty steel carport - which can add so much value throughout the summer storm season.

Think about it, in Australia we have some really wild and erratic weather. One moment it can be absolutely beautiful with the sun shining, the next minute the rain can be pelting down upon us. Unlike canvas sails, which do protect your car from the sun, a steel carport offers even better protection from the natural elements, rain and hail.

By installing a carport, you could also potentially reduce your insurance premiums, as insurance companies like to see that people are being proactive when it comes to protecting their cars.

The range of carports offered at Sheds n Homes are designed tough. They use the portal frame system that is utilised within our sheds and garages, however have steel hollow section (SHS) posts in place of the standard C-section columns. The pre-engineering used has been reviewed and approved by ShedSafe, so you can be confident your new structure meets the requirements of the Australian building code and standards.

This range is manufactured from BlueScope Steel, so the GALVASPAN® posts and framing are complemented by your choose of COLORBOND® steel or ZINCALUME® roof cladding. You also have the choice whether you want a gable roof (with or without an infill) or a modern skillion roof carport.

These carports are supplied in kit form, and is part of our do-it-yourself range. If you would like assistance with the build, chat to your local store to see what additional services they offer.
